Biodiesel is made by treating edible/non edible oils and fats with methyl alcohol in presence of catalyst like sodium methoxide.In the international market it is specified as ASTM D 6751 OR EN 14214. European standards for Bio diesel have become very stringent since the feed stock properties are not constant due to non availability of nonedible oils in sufficient quantity for bio diesel manufacturing. In addition to this to improve the ester content to >99 % and maintain Mono and di glycerides, Glycerin content, moisture and non fatty impurities within the limits of European standards Distillation of bio diesel has become the need of the day. Normal biodiesel from production stream is fed into biodiesel distillation column and heated to 220 degrees c under vacuum conditions and distilled biodiesel is cooled in internal Structural packing condensers and collected and sent for storage.
